LGBTQIA+ Affirming Therapy in Pennsylvania
A space that sees all of you.
Therapy that affirms your identity, your history, and your truth. Available via telehealth throughout Pennsylvania.
You deserve therapy where you don't have to shrink. Where you don't have to explain or justify your existence. Where your identity isn't treated as the problem–or as the only thing about you.
Maybe you've had therapists who meant well but didn't quite get it. Maybe you've spent sessions educating instead of healing. Maybe you've had to code-switch, mask parts of yourself, or wonder whether you really belonged there.
That's exhausting. And you deserve better.
This isn't just a safe space. It's a brave space–where you can show up exactly as you are, exactly as you're becoming. No explaining the basics. No hiding. No footnotes or fine print.
You belong here. Without question.
What "affirming" actually means here
Affirming therapy is more than using the right pronouns or knowing the right terms. It means:
Your identity is celebrated, not just tolerated
Your relationships are honored in all their forms
Your culture and background are valued as part of your story
Your autonomy is respected–you set the pace and direction
I don't make assumptions about your body, your relationships, your family, or your goals. I ask. I listen. And I let you lead.
I ask. I listen. And I let you lead.
What you might be navigating
Being part of the LGBTQIA+ community often means carrying things others don’t see–quietly, constantly, sometimes without language for them.
Internalized shame, stigma, or confusion around your identity
Pressure to come out before you feel ready or safe
Microaggressions, invasive questions, or being misunderstood
Fear that family might reject you or withdraw their love
Lacking visible role models or feeling uncertain about what the future holds
The exhaustion of masking or minimizing parts of yourself to be accepted
Anxiety, depression, or loneliness tied to all of the above
You don't have to navigate this alone. And you don't have to wait until things feel "bad enough" to deserve support.
How we work together
I integrate EMDR, narrative therapy, emotion-focused approaches, and parts work–all with pacing, consent, and your nervous system in mind.
Together, we might explore:
How your body and nervous system have carried your story
Patterns that once protected you but may be limiting you now
The parts of you that want safety, connection, or freedom
What it means to reclaim or rewrite your narrative on your own terms
We move at your pace. Not mine, not anyone else's timeline.
As a member of the LGBTQIA+ community myself, I understand firsthand how vital it is to work with someone who truly sees and affirms you.
I'm committed to therapy that centers your voice and your experience. That means actively examining my own assumptions, staying accountable, and continuing to learn. It means honoring the impacts of intergenerational trauma, systemic oppression, and the very real harm that many LGBTQIA+ people have experienced in spaces that were supposed to help.
I believe in decolonizing the traditional therapy model–not as a buzzword, but as a real, ongoing practice of making space for the full diversity of human identities, cultures, and ways of healing.
You deserve to explore your identity without restraint or apology. I'm here to hold a celebratory space for you.
Who this might be for
This work is for people who:
Identify as LGBTQIA+, nonbinary, gender-diverse, trans, or are still figuring out what identity means for you
Are tired of being misunderstood, pathologized, or minimized
Want therapy that can hold both depth and safety
Appreciate pacing, consent, and relational attunement
Want to work with someone who understands that identity is woven with culture, history, and lived experience
You don't have to arrive with the right words. You don't have to know where to start. You just have to show up–and I'll meet you there with curiosity, respect, and honesty.
Gender-affirming letters
I offer gender-affirming letters for current clients when appropriate and clinically indicated. These letters are written with care, clarity, and respect–honoring your process, your pace, and your lived experience.
Whether you're beginning a transition, navigating medical pathways, updating records, or documenting your truth, this is a collaborative process. We work together; I don't gatekeep.
A note for transparency: A letter is clinical documentation based on assessment and informed consent–not a guarantee of medical approval, as that decision rests with providers and organizations.
Questions about LGBTQIA+ affirming therapy
-
No. You can be anywhere in your journey–out, questioning, exploring, or not ready to label anything at all. Wherever you are is valid.
-
That makes sense! Sometimes identity is central to what you're processing and sometimes it's just part of the context. You get to set the focus of our work together.
-
I offer individual therapy only, but we can absolutely explore relationship dynamics, family stress, and communication patterns in our work together.
You deserve to feel seen and celebrated exactly as you are–without having to explain or perform.
If you're looking for a space where you can show up fully–with a therapist who actually gets it–I'd love to connect.
